Mr. Jansen is an 11th year teacher at NMS this year. He lives in Robinson with his wife Jill, step-son Xavier, and son Elliott. He serves as pianist and music director at his church as well as being involved with the LTC music and theatre departments. At Nuttall, his teaching duties include: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands, lessons, Jazz Band, 7th grade Music Appreciation, and 8th grade History of Rock and Roll. He also teaches beginning band at Lincoln Grade School. Mr. Jansen co-teaches 8th grade band with Mr Murray. Mr. Jansen also volunteers as an additional instructor for the RHS Marching Maroons.
He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in May of 2008. While attending EIU, he participated in the Wind Symphony, Eastern Symphony Orchestra, Panther Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, University Mixed Chorus, and Collegiate Band. He studied trumpet privately with Mark DeGoti, and Dr. W. Parker Melvin. He also studied piano privately with the late Dr. W. David Hobbs. Mr. Jansen was a member of Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, Iowa during the summers of 2006 and 2007. These summers involved a 2 month national tour ending with the Drum Corps International Word Championships.
