Kindergarten is "Snowed In"

On Friday, January 25th, Washington Kindergarten students participated in the second annual "Snowed In" day. With the help of their parents and teachers, the children enjoyed several snow-themed activities including those pictured. The cafeteria also prepared some hot chocolate as a fun snack.

Butterfly Sculpture Installed

A butterfly sculpture was recently installed in the northwest courtyard at Washington School. The sculpture is in memory of Donna Maxey a student who passed away due to cancer in 2006. Materials for the sculpture were purchased with funds provided by an anonymous donor. The sculpture was created by a welder from Lawrence County who also wishes to remain anonymous.

New Doors Started

As part of energy efficiency upgrades, contractors installed new doors in the gym and cafeteria areas over the Christmas break. Eventually all of the exterior doors and windows in the building will be replaced with new more energy efficient models. The remainder of the work will be completed over the summer break.
